Asco Numatics has introduced an ultra-low-power pilot for spool valves with flapper nozzle technology that is suitable for explosive atmospheres or industries where harmful substances are present. The pilot is designed to be mounted on pneumatic solenoid valves used in explosive atmospheres or industries where harmful substances are present, which include the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, oil and gas refineries and other industries that are subject to the Atex directive. Available with either a 1/4in tapped connection or Namur interface, the valve is suitable for operating voltages between 16 and 40V and has a power consumption of 30MW. The flapper nozzle technology is designed to provide an operating life of 25 million cycles. The ultra-low-power pilot is available as 3/2-5/2 single-coil or dual-coil version and the IP65 reinforced plastic enclosure is rated to II 2G Ex ia IIC T5/T6 (category G zone 1) according to the latest Atex (EN 50018) and global IECEx standards.
