New Zealand: offshore gas award

Technip has been awarded by Shell Todd Oil Services Limited (STOS), on behalf of the Pohokura Joint Venture, a contract for the supply and installation of flexible lines and umbilicals, and the installation of the wellhead platform of the Pohokura gas development project in New Zealand. The Pohokura gas field lies in approximately 35 metres of water depth in Block PMP 38154 NE of New Plymouth in the Taranaki Basin. The Pohokura gas development project includes a wellhead platform, a subsea pipeline from the wellhead platform to the coast and an onshore gas plant located near New Plymouth. Technip’s engineering center in Perth (Australia) will carry out the contract and provide the supply and installation of 11.5” flexible pipe and umbilical and service line (9.2km), as well as the installation of the wellhead platform. Technip will also handle the management of various subcontracts including horizontal directional drilling at shore approach. The flexible lines and umbilicals will be manufactured at Technip’s facilities in Le Trait (France) and in Newcastle (UK), respectively. The offshore construction will be performed in 2006 by the Venturer, one of the Group’s dynamically positioned vessels.
