OMK announces USVP

The United Metallurgical Company (AO, OMK) is proceeding with a project to manufacture special ball valves in Russia. These valves are designed with diameters of up to 1,400 mm, and for pressures of up to 42 MPa. These types of valves are currently being imported for use in the gas industry  and is the reason the Urals Special Valve Plant (OOO USVP) has been launched.

The new plant’s team of designers has already developed drawings for a number of special service ball valves. Pilots of such valves were presented by OMK to PAO Gazprom management at the 6th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum. A number of pilots have either already completed or are being prepared for testing at Gazprom installations.

The OOO USVP was established by OMK under a long-term contract with PAO Gazprom announced in February 2016 to meet the gas company’s needs for special service ball valves. This contract has OMK developing and implementing the manufacturing process and making ball valves.

The new manufacturing facility will include suites of high-precision machining, instrumentation, and testing equipment, equipment to apply a high-velocity gas fuel coating, and other high-tech processes.
