Packing for water and sewage

James Walker’s Aluflon gland packing is now WRAS approved for use with hot and cold potable water up to 85C. “This product will reduce stockholding levels across the water industry,” said James Walker’s top packings expert Andrew Goulding. “It can be used for valves as well as reciprocating and centrifugal pumps at all types of site.” The traditional style white packing was originally developed for systems that handle caustic slurries at alumina processing plants in Australia. Compatibility with media in the range pH 0-14 enables it to work with all chemicals used by the water treatment industry. Outstanding success with slurries and suspended solids in mineral processing applications emphasises its ability to withstand the abrasive actions of sewage, wastewater and river extraction duties with long life and low maintenance. Aluflon’s versatility comes from its cross-plait construction with a highly developed yarn. The yarn has a fine reinforced glass insert with a spun cover of polyolefin fibre – all coated and impregnated with PTFE micro-particles and an inert lubricant.
