The Precision Fluidics Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation announced the release of its new Ultra Low Carryover Valve, a miniature liquid solenoid valve. The Ultra Low Carryover Valve utilizes a patent-pending design to create a well-swept and small internal volume resulting in best in class carryover performance.
A common goal for instrument manufacturers in the Clinical Diagnostic and Analytical Chemistry markets is to increase the number of samples that can be processed per hour. The valve was engineered to meet this need by enabling fluid circuitry simplification and reducing the required wash time within the instrument. “The creation of the Ultra Low Carryover Valve is a great cornerstone in helping our customers increase instrument throughput and performance,” said Don McNeil, Strategic Marketing Manager, Precision Fluidics Division.
The valve is suitable for a variety of different liquids and can achieve a water flow rate of up to 395ml/min at 45 psi (3 bar). With an industry-leading internal volume of 4.3µl diaphragm seal to a common port and exceptionally well-swept fluid path, the valve provides industry-leading carryover performance. When compared to other life science valves available in the market, the valve requires only a third of the amount of liquid to clean out to less than 10 ppm carryover level. Because of the valve’s unique individually actuated channels, the valve can be operated in four different states eliminating the need for two separate valves.
