Parker Hannifin Unveils Next-Generation DFplus® Proportional Valves

Parker Hannifin, is excited to launch the new generation of DFplus® proportional valves. This new iteration features fundamentally revised valve electronics, unlocking new communication capabilities and connectivity options for demanding industrial applications. While the mechanical components, including the patented voice coil drive (VCD) that underpins the performance of previous DFplus valves, remain largely unchanged, significant advancements have been made in the valve’s electronic functionality.

At the heart of the Generation IV valves is a new dual core processor, which enables these valves to operate at peak performance while simultaneously communicating with the PLC. This unique combination of analogue command signal retention and the use of the valve’s IO-Link connection for communication sets these valves apart in the industry.

Additional innovations in the DFplus Generation IV valves provide substantial value. One notable feature is the integrated near-field communication (NFC) chip, which allows users to access all status information even when the valve is not powered. Additionally, a 360° LED indicator at the top of the electronics box provides immediate basic status information through various colors and flashing patterns. Parker’s ProPxD parameterizing software has also been fundamentally revised, now featuring an improved oscilloscope function that allows for quick and easy adjustment of application-specific parameters.

The mechanical attributes of the DFplus® valves are perfectly complemented by the new electronics. The VCD, combined with the highest resolution integrated linear variable differential transformer (LVDT), delivers elevated force drive without the need for strong active return springs, achieving real servo valve performance. These valves have demonstrated high robustness, proven through vibration tests up to 60 g and 10 billion endurance test cycles, ensuring their suitability for numerous demanding applications.

With these innovations, Parker is ideally positioned to support engineers facing future challenges in industrial hydraulics, especially with the increasing digitalization of processes. Furthermore, the DFplus Generation IV valves can serve as a direct 1:1 replacement for DFplus Generation III valves in existing applications, offering seamless integration and enhanced performance.
