The Philippine government has asked the Korean Power Corp. (Kepco) to put up a power plant in Cebu to help address the looming power crisis in the province. Energy Secretary Vincent S. Perez Jr said the Philippines asked Kepco to build a power plant in Cebu during President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s recent visit to Korea. Kepco leads the consortium that operates the 1200-MW Ilijan natural gas power facility in Batangas. It is also planning to put up a power facility in Panay island.
