Pierburg GmbH introduces compact valve

In the context of the efforts to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, thermal management plays a key role in today’s powertrain systems. With the increasing trend towards electrification, the complex control of the various cooling and heating circuits is gaining significance. In order to be able to individually control these circuits, there is a need for reliable coolant valves. Pierburg GmbH has now introduced a new in-line valve with a small footprint and engineered as part of a modular system.

The new valve with its compact design cuts out the normal shaft displacement between the input and output lines. This means the actuator requires no space outside of the coolant pipes, and hence the packaging within the vehicle is much more compact.

In addition, the new valve optimizes the overall performance of the system. Lower pressure losses allow reduced energy consumption by the pumps as well as significantly higher flow rates.
