Power plant for Virginia

The Fluvanna, County Board of Supervisors, Viriginia, USA, approved Competitive Power Ventures’ plans to build a 520mw electric power plant in the county. The facility will have gas-fired turbines in combined cycle for low emissions and high efficiency. The design also calls for the plant to use air cooling to reduce water usage. Chris Broemmelsiek, CPV vice president for development who is directing the project, said he expects CPV to receive all necessary state and federal permits in time to begin construction during the second quarter of 2002 and to begin commercial operations during the third quarter of 2004.
