UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw recently opened the new GBP 2 million Precision Polymer Engineering Ltd (PPE) factory in Blackburn, Lancashire. A manufacturer of elastomer seals for pumps and valves, Precision Polymer Engineering has invested in the new 35,000 sq ft factory to meet the growing need for its high-performance seals in chemical, food, pharmaceutical, and offshore production processes. The factory includes a cleanroom technology for manufacture of “contaminate free” parts critical to pharmaceutical and bio-medical applications, and advanced computer simulation techniques to assist in seal design. Founded in Blackburn over 25 years ago, PPE specialises in manufacturing custom parts in high specification materials through to custom-made O-rings for extreme temperatures or chemically aggressive environments.
