Control and instrumentation firm RCP has been awarded a six-figure contract to supply control systems to Awilco Drilling’s (AWDR) semi-submersible drilling unit, the WilPhoenix.
RCP, which is headquartered in Aberdeen, has been supplying control and instrumentation equipment to the global oil and gas industry for more than a decade. The control system upgrade on the WilPhoenix will provide AWDR with enhanced operational capabilities, including a state of the art blowout preventer (BOP) control system with touchscreen HMIs, a BOP Event-Logger that accurately monitors the BOP performance, new BOP control panels and a full HPHT system upgrade including a gate valve control system (GVCS).
Since AWDR’s inception, RCP has supplied and installed a wide variety of control systems to the drilling contractor. AWDR has procured supporting engineering services from RCP for these projects, with the latest control systems due to be delivered in Q4 2015.
Managing Director of RCP Ben Knight said: “RCP enjoy an excellent working relationship with Awilco Drilling and work closely with the WilPhoenix management team, who actively participate in the design process of the systems supplied. The advanced technology that our team has installed on the WilPhoenix will serve well for the next decade and more and we are confident in winning similar contracts throughout 2015, both in the North Sea and internationally.”
