ROSS announces SIL certification for valve series

ROSS CONTROLS announced their 21 & 27 Series in-line valves are now Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Certified per the requirements of the IEC 61508 2010 standard. These valves are suitable for use in safety-instrumented systems up to SIL 2 and may be used in a redundant structure up to SIL 3.

The third-party assessment and certification by TÜV Rheinland® Industrie Service ensures that the valves and safety manual comply with the IEC 61508 standard. This standard provides safety equipment suppliers and users a common framework to design products and systems for safety-related applications.

The ROSS 27 Series in-line valves have a robust poppet design for near zero leakage & high dirt tolerance. This construction promotes self-cleaning and is wear-compensating, enabling a high level of repeatability throughout the life of the valve. These valves are available in port sizes ranging from ¼” to 2 ½”, with either solenoid or pressure control, and are available in a 2/2, 3/2, or 4/2 function.

The ROSS 21 Series valves are configured like the 27 Series for use in applications that require either a high or low temperature rating. This added feature is accomplished with metal internals and special seals that are appropriate for use in more extreme temperatures.
