The El Paso Exploration & Production Co. uses water flooding, a method of secondary recovery in which water is injected into the reservoir formation to displace residual oil at their Wyoming locations in the Rocky Mountains. The water from injection wells physically sweeps the displaced oil to adjacent production wells. The company purchased Rotork CVQ-1200 electric actuators mounted on small choke valves to control water flood flow at five different oil field well sites. The reasons for selecting the CVQ included the configurable fail-safe capability, wireless Bluetooth setup, compact size and unlimited modulating ability.
