Schuler constructs open-die presses for Pahnke

Schuler has agreed to a technology and sales cooperation deal to construct open-die presses under Wepuko’s Pahnke brand and deliver the lines worldwide as turnkey systems. Under the terms of the cooperation agreement, the lines will also be built by Schuler’s manufacturing network under the Schuler Pahnke brand and marketed around the world as turnkey solutions. As opposed to conventional drive systems that control the press movement via valves, the Pahnke Modified Sinusoidal Direct Drive system uses high-pressure pumps that can be quickly regulated. The result is service lives of over 50,000 operating hours and energy savings of 20 to 30% for oil-hydraulic drives and over 60% for water-hydraulic drives. Products that can be manufactured with solid forming lines include large components, such as ship’s crankshafts, propellers and anchors, or railway wheels and axles, pipeline accessories, and equipment for the production of turbine blades.
