Seen but not heard

Bio-Chem Valve has introduced two new enhancement options for its inert, wide aperture, non-sticking pinch valves. The solenoid-operated valves, available in the UK and Europe from Omnifit Ltd, provide precise control of liquid and gas flow in medical and analytical equipment. They are now available with specialised position indication sensors and noise reduction features. Position feedback is provided by a compact, factory-mounted, infra-red optical sensor which detects the position of the pinch valve pusher/armature assembly. It sends an electrical signal to the control system to verify whether the valve is open or closed. With no moving parts, and only one lead wire, the accurate, wear-resistant optical sensor has been designed for virtually unlimited life. The noise reduction enhancement reduces the characteristic, intermittent staccato “clicking” sound typically associated with solenoid-actuated pinch valves to a virtually inaudible soft beat. Innovative use of noise dampening materials on the internal components reduces the noise level at the point of actuation from 72dB to 52dB (equivalent to home or office background noise) as measured on pinch valves for tubing sizes from 3/32” (2.38mm) to 3/8” (9.53mm) OD. The new valve enhancements are for use in equipment used in intensive care and consumer product testing applications, procedures in GPs’ surgeries, and all other critical applications in which exact positioning assurance or noise abatement is required. Bio-Chem Valve Inc. is a leading manufacturer of precision metering and dispensing systems for the analytical and medical device markets. Partnered with Omnifit Ltd, they provide a complete line of precision fluid transfer solutions.
