Breakaway Technologies Inc. (BTI), the US specialist in cryogenic valve designs, has introduced the CryoBreak Force.1™ valve, aimed at reducing loss caused by human error inherent with filling cryogenic bulk storage tanks.
Operational loss associated with over pressurisation during filling, and delivery drivers failing to disconnect transfer hoses from the storage tanks before driving away have been the topic of many discussions and white papers over the last eight years. BTI has designed a cryogenic valve that will break apart and instantly seal on both ends in the event of over pressurisation or a drive-away. The patent pending design is called the CryoBreak Force.1 and has been field tested to 300psi.
There are approximately 350,000 cryogenic storage tanks globally that are exposed to possible incident due to human error during the routine filling process. These tanks are typically pressurised to 250psi and contain cryogenic fluid that is stored at under –250 degrees.
