Senior Aerospace Expands Production and Secures Collins Contracts

Increased capacity at Fossé will be used to produce industrial valves and high-pressure hydraulic fittings used in aerospace fluid-conveyance systems. Parent company Senior plc has also secured new contracts with Collins.

Senior Aerospace Ermeto has opened a new production facility in Fossé, France. The new facility is required to support growth and will expand Ermeto’s capacity to manufacture high-pressure fluid conveyance components for European and global aerospace and industrial customers.

The new facility, which is adjacent to Ermeto’s existing factory, has an area of 1600m2, and increases Ermeto’s manufacturing capacity by 25%. The increased capacity will be used to produce industrial valves and high-pressure hydraulic fittings used in aerospace fluid-conveyance systems. Ermeto is Senior’s European centre for highly-engineered hydraulic fluid fittings, and is working in collaboration with Senior Aerospace Spencer, the Senior plc group’s high-pressure hydraulic fluid fittings business based in Valencia, California, USA, that was acquired in November 2022.

Commenting at the opening ceremony, David Squires, CEO of Senior, said: “We are delighted to mark the opening of this new production facility. This investment in Ermeto’s growth will enable Senior to support our aerospace and industrial customers’ increasing levels of demand”.

Meanwhile, parent company Senior plc has been awarded various multi-year production contracts by Collins Aerospace for the supply of precision formed and machined thrust reverser structural components for Boeing 787, Airbus A320neo and Airbus A220 aircraft. Deliveries commenced in January 2024 for Boeing and will commence January 2025 for Airbus. The total value of contracts is approximately $80m over a 10-year period.

Manufacturing is being undertaken at Senior Aerospace’s Jet Products facility near San Diego, California, USA.

Commenting on the awards, Launie Fleming, CEO of Senior Aerospace, says: “We are delighted to have been awarded these new long-term contracts from Collins Aerospace for complex structural components across Airbus and Boeing platforms. The awards are another great example of how our customers value Senior Aerospace’s manufacturing expertise, quality and on-time delivery, and they will help to deliver further growth for Senior Aerospace’s structures businesses over coming years.”
