Siemens to supply power island for Brazilian plant

Siemens has won a USD 220 million-contract to supply the power island for the 580MW, gas-fired UTE Mauá 3 combined-cycle power plant in Manaus, Brazil, the company said. The power island equipment includes two heavy-duty gas turbines, one steam turbine, three generators and the instrumentation and control system.

The gas turbines, the steam turbine and the generators will be manufactured in the Siemens factory in Charlotte, N.C. Siemens will also provide technical field assistance during the erection and construction, which will be done by Construtora Andrade Gutierrez S.A. Siemens will also lead the commissioning of the plant.

The plant, being built for Amazonas Distribuidora de Energia S.A., a subsidiary of Eletrobrás, is scheduled to be online in 2014.
