SIPOS Aktorik GmbH will be exhibiting its enhanced SIPOS 5 Flash series of electric actuators and its new control system SIMA for PROFIBUS DP compatible actuators at the Interkama 2001 exhibition in Düsseldorf, 24–28 September 2001. The enhanced SIPOS 5 Flash series features include: soft approach of the valve end positions with low speed at full torque; no overtorque; start-up current always smaller than nominal current; low wire cross-section for power supply; and monitoring of valve specific data by signalling a maintenance recommendation (switching cycles, cut-offs, operating hours). The SIMA actuator control system requires PROFIBUS DP (redundant) and, typically, 20..50 actuators. It has the following functions: parameterisation of the actuators (tripping torques, output speeds, binary and analogue I/O, control mode, language, etc.) with central data base; Safe Control by using redundant lines (OPEN, CLOSE, STOP, EMERGENCY, integrated positioner, etc.); upload of actuator data and states; diagnosis by upload of detailed fault messages and actual data (numbers of operating cycles, cut-offs; operating hours of motor and electronics, etc.); user interface screen or operation panel; integration of further sensors / actuators possible.
