Slide valves suit cement and abrasives

RotaVal is now marketing a new range of slide valves designed for heavy duty and abrasive handling conditions. These valves can be used in applications such as the cement and mineral production industries and are available in various configurations, including bodies in cast iron, stainless steel or cast carbon steel, 304 or 316 stainless-steel knife blades and various seals depending on application, pressure and temperature. For cement applications, the knife edge is faced with stellite to minimise potential wear in operation. The blade also closes against hardened wedges which push the knife blade firmly into its housing to make a long-lasting dust-tight seal. An additional features is a Ni-hard deflection cone to reduce damage to the seal area. Brass scraper blades are fitted to remove abrasive material and protect the blade packing, plus four or more pulsed air purge ports to ensure loose material is removed from the valve housing. Large diameter or twin pneumatic cylinders allow for a positive smooth knife movement reliably and consistently through dense materials. Both the pulse air purge and drive cylinder are driven from one pneumatic valve. These valves are available in bore diameters ranging from 50 up to 600mm, and versions can be supplied for operation at up to 10bar(g).
