Snøhvit contracts awarded

Fabricom (Belgium) and Heerema (The Netherlands) have won contracts for deliveries to the gas liquefaction plant which is to be built on Melkøya off Hammerfest in Finnmark county. As operator for the Snøhvit project Statoil signed the agreements on 15 May. The total value of the contracts is about NOK 730 million. Fabricom will deliver pre-assembled equipment units and racks to the plant which will produce liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the gas from the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea. Heerema Zwijndrecht will construct a slug catcher and associated processing units. The finished products will be transported from Belgium and the Netherlands to Melkøya and installed in the summer of 2004. The gas liquefaction plant on Melkøya will deliver nearly six billion cubic metres of LNG annually from 2006.
