Foster Wheeler AG has been awarded contracts to supply solar steam generators for two parabolic-trough power plants in Spain. The first steam generator will go to La Africana plant in Córdoba, in the Andalusia region.
The scope of supply for this 50MW project includes the delivery of steam generation components for a single-train thermal plant. Africana Energia SL (Córdoba) is acting as engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the project. According to the contract signed, Foster Wheeler will deliver feedwater heaters, preheaters, evaporators, superheaters and reheaters in the second quarter of 2012.

The second contract Foster Wheeler has closed is with Grupo Ibereolica (Madrid, Spain). The company is building the 50MW Olivenza plant in Extremadura. The power plant consists of two 25MW trains and utilizes concentrated parabolic-trough technology with thermal oil as the heat transfer fluid. Foster Wheeler will provide the same equipment and services as in the first contract. The delivery is scheduled to take place in the second quarter of 2012.
