Velan (Canada) has been selected for a supply of valves for the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor (PBMR) in South Africa. This initial order is for severe service control valves, y-pattern bellows seal globe valves and check valves for the Helium Test Facility (HTF) loop. The HTF loop will be used to qualify components of the PBMR demo reactor, whose construction is scheduled to begin in 2007. Velan has been a key supplier to the nuclear company since supplying valves to the experimental reactors that were precursors to the navy and commercial nuclear programs.
