Statoil awards Kvaerner for Njord upgradation

Statoil has awarded a contract to Kvaerner for complete upgradation of the Njord A platform. The contract has an estimated value of around NOK 5 B and will amount to about 3,000 man-years.

The new contract was initiated when Statoil and Kvaerner signed a framework agreement on April 1, 2016 for upgrading of Njord A platform. The agreement is based on a project named “Njord Future”.

Njord Future is a pioneering work in the sense that this is a production platform on the Norwegian Continental Shelf taken ashore for upgrading after being in operation since 1997.

The project will comprise around 3,000 man-years, mainly in Kvaerner and Aker Solutions, being responsible for engineering. The project is an important contributor for further development of important platform competence.

The Njord platform is scheduled to be delivered in the spring of 2020.
