Technip in Qatar upgrade

Qatar General Petroleum Corporation (QGPC) has awarded Technip the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for upgrading the control systems of two NGL trains located at Mesaieed. FEED objectives are to redesign and modernise the process control, systems and instrumentation of NGL trains 1 and 2 by applying state-of-the-art technology together with state-of-the-art engineering techniques such as safety integrity level assessment. The project will include studies for control rooms, integrated control systems, fieldbus and associated technologies, intelligent instrumentation, advanced process control, plant optimisation, turbine control systems, compressor anti-surge and performance control, intelligent P&IDs, loss prevention analyses and blow-down analyses. Technip’s scope of work will also include review/upgrade of Process and Utility P&IDs, design of blast-proof buildings, design of electrical power systems, review/upgrade of telecommunications systems and preparation of scope-of-work for the EPIC contract. QGPC NGL 1 and 2 are major process fractionation plants producing propane, butane and gasoline. Plant is located at Mesaieed, 40km from Doha City, Qatar. The project will be executed at Technip’s engineering centre in Abu Dhabi.
