French engineering company Technip has been awarded a subsea contract by Anglo Dutch supermajor Shell for its Prelude floating liquefied natural gas development, off Western Australia.
The contract covers the project management, fabrication, transport and installation by reeling of 12-inch flowlines and the fabrication of pipeline end terminals, flowline appurtenances and rigid spools. It also includes the transportation and installation of the subsea equipment including manifolds, umbilical termination assemblies, rigid spooks and flying leads.
Technip will carry out the contract from its operating centres in Perth, Western Australia, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, while the company’s spoolbase in Orkanger, Norway, will weld the flowline linepipe provided by Shell.
The offshore work will be carried out using vessels from Technip’s own fleet including the Deep Energy pipelay vessel and Deep Orient flexlay construction vessel.
