On 8 October 2009 the international valve supplier Transmark Fcx will be organizing a Safety Day at the Euromast in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Transmark Fcx’s Mike van den Bos, Product Manager pressure relief and responsible for the organization of the Safety Day, explains that the main focus of this symposium will be on “mechanical pressure relief protection”. Several well established valve companies will provide a comprehensive source of information, new techniques and legislative updates. Amongst others the following valve and safety experts will speak: Leser’s Stefan Lange, will discuss the effects of back-pressures on different types of safety valves; Ventil’s Arthur Baars, will discuss the use of online (in-situ) testing of pressure relief valves; Fike’s Roger Bours, will discuss the use of bursting discs in the reduction of fugitive emissions; Cor Bahnerth (former Mechanical Engineer Valves & Piping at Shell) will show the attendees the undervalued difference between Safety relief valves acting on Gas/Vapor or acting on Liquid; W&P Noiseprotection’s StephanWilhelm, will discuss the use of blow off silencers behind safety valves; Produca’s Willem van der Bijl, will give a introduction on functional safety (Safety instrumented systems for the process industry sector).
