Turbine bypass system replacement completed

Dresser Masoneilan® has completed the turbine bypass system replacement for the Crystal River 3 Nuclear Power Plant in Crystal River, Florida. Crystal River, an 860MWE pressurized water nuclear reactor in operation since 1977, is undergoing an extended power upgrade that includes a 20% power increase and 180MWE of additional capacity. After a detailed technical comparison and evaluation, Dresser Masoneilan was selected to provide its valves for the turbine bypass system. The Dresser Masoneilan 41000 series valve and downstream sparger helped disperse steam evenly into the condenser, reducing overall noise and ensuring uninterrupted diversion of steam to the condenser for continued operation of the generator.
