Tyco Valves & Controls has recently supplied valves for a new environmentally friendly power station, Damhead Creek in Kent. Damhead Creek, situated on the Hoo Peninsula in Kent near the mouth of the Medway, is an 800mw project from US-based global energy company Entergy. The 800mw generating plant, which began operations in early 2001, uses Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) technology. Dewrance and Intervalve, part of Tyco Valves & Controls, supplied a number of high-chrome valves for high-temperature and high-pressure applications to Damhead Creek, with sizes ranging from 1–24 inches diameter. The valves are made from forged (A182F91) and cast (A217C12A) steels, which are relatively new to the industry and which bring significant cost savings to customers due to the lightness of the material.
Dewrance has recently been approved by Lloyds for the supply of valves in accordance with the European Pressure Equipment Directive, and can now therefore offer their range with the CE mark accordingly. Tyco can therefore continue to support Damhead Creek with the supply of spare parts, replacement valves and after-service support in the coming years.
