With the introduction of its new fire hydrant, FAMAT is entering into a new application field: fire protection. The new dry-barrel fire hydrant is ANSI/ AWWA C502 compliant. Its unique design allows easy operation and in the same time helps to prevent tampering. Some of the fire hydrant’s major features are that it is a dry-barrel and it self-empties after use. It is protected from corrosion by means of internal & external epoxy painting.
The fire hydrant can be customized with 2 different inlets and can be coupled with the Famat Gate Valve, which is also UL Listed and FM. The new fire hydrant is affordable, reliable, and easy to install and maintain. An intentional section of weakness (breakable coupling flange) is set just above the ground line to protect the hydrant from major damage by impact from motor vehicles, thereby minimizing damage to the stem and the main valve. To prevent freezing, any water in the hydrant barrel drains out at the bottom each time the hydrant is shut after use.
