Valve monitors for actuators

K Controls has announced a number of additions to their range of valve position monitors for use in hazardous atmospheres and hostile environments. Developments include enhancements to the existing coated aluminium 007 ExdIIB Position Monitor and a new range of ExiaIIC and ExdIIC products in stainless steel. All units can be fitted to a range of quarter turn or linear valve actuators via an industry standard rotary drive or a selection of linear drive levers. The flamepaths and Klearvision visual indicator of the coated aluminium 007 ExdIIB Position Monitor have been modified and the product has been re-certified to extend the scope of approval to include one of the IIC gases, Hydrogen. There is a range of monitoring equipment that can be fitted in these new stainless steel enclosures. Versions for -50C and +80C ambient applications are available. For continuous feedback of valve position or for monitoring the performance of critical emergency shutdown valves during partial stroke testing, 4-20mA, HART, Profibus or Foundation fieldbus position transmitters can be fitted with or without additional limit switches. These valve position monitors are used extensively in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
