The Valtek Valdisk high-cycle seat, a seat design for Valtek butterfly valves, has been introduced by Flowserve Corp. The new seat design, made of UHMWPE material, offers an ANSI/FCI 7-0-2 class six shutoff rating after as many as 150,000 to 200,000 cycles. The design of the Valtek Valdisk high-cycle seat uses the pressure of fluid in the pipeline to compress and elongate an S-shaped soft seat, pressing it against the disk to maintain shutoff. As the seat undergoes normal wear, the fluid pressure compensates by pushing it further into the disk.
