This year, VENTIL marks its 70th year in operation. The company has come a long way since its initial days with a small team, having grown into a global presence with a workforce of over 120 employees spread over regional offices in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas. In an interview, Richard Baars from VENTIL highlights the company’s distinct advantage: “With seven decades of experience, we’ve developed a deep understanding of the valve industry and its diverse needs. This has allowed us to create hydrostatic and gas test benches that cater to a wide range of requirements, many of which have become industry standards. Yet, we still welcome requests for custom solutions to address specific needs.”
VENTIL’s heritage lies not just in test benches, but also in valve expertise. They began as a valve company, acquiring in-depth knowledge of valve design, actuation and current innovations. This unique perspective, combined with their in-house manufacturing and automation capabilities, allows them to continuously refine and tailor solutions as needed. Their test benches are now utilized in over 100 countries.
Tailored solutions for diverse customers
VENTIL recognizes that manufacturers, service companies, and end users possess distinct requirements, each representing a unique segment within their market. Manufacturers prioritize efficiency and safety, leading to a focus on streamlined multi-station test bench equipped with robotic functionalities to address their specific workflows. Conversely, service & maintenance companies often require flexible test benches and valve repair equipment solutions.
For end users, priorities may differ. While the specific focus was not disclosed in the original interview, Richard mentioned VENTIL driven research and development projects for international energy companies. Richard teased us with the promise of a new and innovative method for testing of fugitive emissions, hydrogen valves and a brand-new approach to test deep cryogenic applications down to -253°C.
Looking forward
Richard discussed the company’s process of aligning research and innovation with the testing needs and expectations of the market. He mentioned that this process caused an end user to revise their company standard for fugitive emissions testing and that we can expect an industry wide adaptation of new technology in the next few months.
