M.W. Kellogg Ltd (MWKL), Kellogg Brown & Root’s affiliate company in London, has won a contract to provide the basic engineering design for Union Fenosa’s proposed Spanish liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal planned to be located at Sagunto Harbour, Valencia, Spain. The project, estimated at approximately USD 240 million, calls for the development of an LNG receiving terminal with an estimated storage capacity of 450,000 cubic metres and a nominal LNG vaporisation capacity of 5BCM/year. The Union Fenosa basic engineering contract consists of the development of the LNG terminal design and the preparation of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) enquiry packages for the LNG tanks and the rest of the LNG terminal. Design services will be carried out in MWKL’s London office and are due to be completed by April 2001 with award of the EPC contract scheduled for mid-2001. The terminal is expected to be operational by 2004.
