Technology group Wärtsilä and TMS Cardiff Gas have renewed their existing Lifecycle Agreement, extending coverage for the 2-stroke main engines onboard seven LNG carrier vessels for an additional five years. The agreement is designed to maximise operational reliability by enabling flexible maintenance scheduling and optimising time between overhauls (TBO). The renewed order was booked by Wärtsilä in Q3 2025.
LNG carrier operators currently face regulatory, environmental, and geopolitical pressures, combined with intense competition from oversupply. This increases demand for timely delivery, operational efficiency, and fleet adaptability.
Each of the seven vessels operates with two WinGD 5X72DF dual-fuel two-stroke engines and Wärtsilä gas valve units. The scope of the agreement includes Wärtsilä’s Dynamic Maintenance Planning service, which offers flexible maintenance scheduling, extended service intervals, and reduced spare parts consumption, along with 24/7 remote operational support and contract management. It also incorporates Expert Insight, Wärtsilä’s predictive maintenance service that uses real-time vessel data to detect potential issues before they impact performance.
