Weir Valves & Controls UK, formerly Hopkinsons, announces the move of its business to a new location in Elland. The new site is Ainley House on the Ainley Industrial Estate off the Huddersfield Road. The new location is three miles from Weir’s present location in Birkby.
Phil Clifton, Divisional Managing Director for Weir Valves & Controls commented: “This site was our first choice for a new facility. This modern facility with the new plant and equipment and up-to-date, fast, efficient processes we are putting in place will help us to produce world-leading valves and customer service… We are making a substantial and long-term financial investment from the disposal of the Birkby site in the new facility and our people who will operate it.” The transfer of activities will start in the summer and be completed by the year end. The new site will employ 150 to 180 jobs. The firm will be manufacturing industrial valves and controls in the Hopkinsons, Batley, Blakeborough and MAC product ranges from the new Elland site.
