WES Team supports Naval Platform

Weir Engineering Services was called into action when 20 rotary electric actuators on a Naval Platform required critical service and repair.

The team at Weir Engineering Services (WES), based in Alloa, Scotland, are delighted to have helped their customer out of a tricky situation. Recently, they were engaged by an organisation tasked with maintaining a naval platform, this end-user needed a partner willing to repair and service 20 rotary electric actuators manufactured and previously serviced by another Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

Fully updating all actuators within the platform would incur significant cost, far above the upfront cost of replacement. This full-scale replacement would require significant down-time, wide-spread product retraining and remove their team’s ability to carry out basic servicing.

WES wanted to support the customer through this difficult situation. The service provided gave the customer the benefit of continuing to utilise a product which was perfect, not only for their process – but for their people. The newly serviced actuators will remain operational for the lifetime of the platform – estimated to be in the region of 20 years.
