Wintershall, Germany’s largest internationally active oil and gas producer, awarded a major pipeline and subsea construction (PSC) contract to Subsea 7. The contract is worth approximately USD 300M. The award is the latest contract in the execution of the Maria development.
The PSC contract includes a comprehensive engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) agreement for three major pipeline systems linking the Maria development as a subsea tieback to existing infrastructure in the Norwegian Sea. Subsea 7 will also install the subsea production system and control umbilicals procured by Wintershall Norge through its contract with FMC in October 2014.
There are three elements to the PSC contract. Subsea 7 will design, procure and install three pipelines linking Maria to surrounding fields. These comprise the 26km production flowline, with direct electrical heating (DEH) cable connected to the Kristin platform, the 46km plastic-lined water injection pipeline from Heidrun, and the 22km pipeline that will supply lift gas to Maria from Åsgard via the Tyrihans subsea field.
Subsea 7 will also install the subsea production system (SPS) structures supplied by FMC Technologies subsidiary, FMC Kongsberg Subsea. This includes two integrated templates, subsea manifolds and the production riser base at Kristin. Subsea 7 will install the static control umbilicals supplied by FMC Kongsberg Subsea between Kristin and the Maria templates.
