Zinfra wins Wheatstone contract

Zinfra has entered into an agreement with Bechtel for the design and construction of a 132 kV high voltage power cable system for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project in Western Australia. The subcontract has an estimated value of approximately AUD 36M and is expected to support up to 50 engineering and manufacturing jobs at Zinfra, across Australia and onsite at Ashburton North. Work on the design component began in August 2012 and the subcontract is expected to be completed by January 2016.
The 132 kV high voltage power cable system includes the construction of a highly specialised cable duct bank system using expertise within the fields of engineering, design, construction and commissioning. With a strong utility heritage, Zinfra has specialist experience and capability in designing, constructing, operating and maintaining many of Australia’s major electricity, water and gas transmission and distribution assets. Zinfra Managing Director, Tony Beach, said, “Zinfra is extremely excited to be working on this important and high profile project. Our contribution leverages our vast experience and core capability in design and construction, and draws on our experience in working in remote locations in Australia.”
