FCx Newman Hattersley – part of the global FCx International group of specialist flow control distribution companies – has just secured two orders collectively worth CAD 1.4 million. The orders for spare valves and valve parts for nuclear power plants in China and Korea were placed by Third Qinshan Nuclear Power Company (TQNPC) Ltd of China and Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) Company (a division of Korea Electric Power Corporation). FCx Newman Hattersley will provide TQNPC and the China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation with spare valves and parts for the commissioning phase of Qinshan Phase III Units 1 and 2. The company was one of the leading valve suppliers when construction of China’s first CANDU plants began and the two new plants are scheduled to be in commercial operation during 2003. Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) Company have also reached an agreement with FCx Newman Hattersley to supply spare parts for KHNP’s four existing CANDU plants at the Wolsong site in Korea worth in excess of CAD 700,000. FCx Newman Hattersley was a leading valve supplier during construction of the plants, completed in 1999 and look forward to building upon the longstanding relationship with KHNP.
