Shell is considering several investment possibilities in Iran, according to the Dutch newspaper, the Financieele dagblad of 18 February. In a bid to expand its interests in the gas sector, Shell is negotiating to take part in various large gas ventures. Jeroen van der Veer, the company’s president, has confirmed that discussions are being held in Iran, but that so far no concrete projects have been confirmed.
According to trade experts, Shell is considering liquefied gas projects and is studying the construction of a gas refinery and GTL facilities. According to the report, Shell has perfected the technology for this process and made it commercially feasible.
Shell is already working as a technological consultant to restore two war-damaged oilfields in Iran.
