Milan-based FCX RCM, part of the global specialist flow control group FCX International, has secured one of its biggest ever contracts to supply of gate, globe, check valves, and strainers to the Ballestra Emalab plant in Dubai. Emalab has signed contracts with UOP for process licensing, catalyst and adsorbent supply, certain proprietary equipment supply and commissioning services for the plant with Ballestra S.p.A. The 30,000 tpy plant includes UOP’s Pacol™/DeFine™ and PEP™ processes and the UOP/CEPSA DETAL™ process and is expected to be in operation in early 2004 – mainly supplying the GCC and East Africa detergent surfactant markets. Ballestra has supplied all the sulphonation and most of the powder detergent plants in operation in the Middle East. The contract, worth EUR 400,000, was secured in close co-operation between FCX RCM and supplier Firsa, an Italian manufacturer of steel gate, globe and check valves.
