AUMA Actuators aid Fens drainage

Following on from a River Nene drainage application at a pumping station at Thorney in the UK, AUMA’s electric actuators have been selected to aid a pumping process that diverts water from the low lying Fens out to sea. The new contract for AUMA is at the North Level District Internal Drainage Board pumping station Tydd Gote, near Wisbech, where water is routed into tidal channels to avoid flooding. AUMA’s actuators support an upgrade where modern diesel engines have replaced the original horizontal models. Contractors, E Rand & Sons Ltd, selected the modular electric actuation technology to aid valve automation which prevents back flow of the water. The role of the actuator manufacturer and supplier extended to component adaptation to fit products to existing valves.
