Once the decision has been made to add pneumatic actuation to a quarter-turn ball valve, the next step is to integrate the valve assembly into a new or existing process control system. Burkert recommends the Type 2658, a pneumatically actuated ball valve with a “smart” TOP Control head to create a complete, intelligent system for on/off or continuous control. The pre-assembled valve system is designed to provide superior performance and lower total system cost. The simple ball valve construction – together with an intelligent control device –provides a process control option that excels in water treatment and distribution systems in irrigation applications, beverage and pharmaceutical production lines, batch control in the chemical and dyeing industry, textile machines, and galvanic and etching processes. The Type 2658 consists of three modules: the valve body, a pneumatic actuator and electro pneumatic control head. The two-piece, 2/2-way valve body is available in diameters from 1/2 inch to 3 inches (10-80 mm) in stainless steel, PVC, PP or PVDF plastic material.
