Adanac Valve Specialities has recently achieved certification by the BSI to design, manufacture and modify forged, cast and fabricated standard and special purpose valves, manifolds and piping in accordance with the PED. The company, which has been in the business of manufacturing and modifying valves for special services for 15 years, believes it is one of the first companies in the UK to have achieved this status. The PED requires applicable equipment, which is modified from its original form, to be reassessed for conformance. Failure to use an organisation certified to carry out such modifications would leave the supplier liable to prosecution. The transition period for PED compliance runs out on 29 May 2002.
