Auma actuators used in Wessex wastewater

AUMA actuators have been selected for use at Avonmouth WwTW in the UK, Wessex Water’s largest wastewater treatment works. Technology at the works incorporates profibus open fieldbus actuator solutions from AUMA contracted and installed by MJ Gleeson. Highly automated computer control and monitoring Sequencing Batch Reactor technology at the works incorporates AUMA actuators, which play a key role in valve operation. Due to the complex nature of the control equipment, AUMA’s profibus solution was chosen over traditional hard wire methods. Substantial cost savings were provided on cabling and a substantial increase in feedback from the field was offered. With a unique ability to provide a plug socket connection for profibus, AUMA’s solution also gives Wessex Water the ability to remove an actuator from the line while maintaining continuity downstream.
