BSS waters down problem for Bass

When the Bass Brewery in Burton-on-Trent discovered that there was a possibility that its water supply could be in danger of coming into contact with South Staffordshire Water’s supply it called upon industrial pipeline and valve distributor BSS to help solve its problem. With stringent water safety bylaws now in force, Bass is well aware of the need to safeguard its water supplies and meet the requirements for water backflow prevention highlighted in the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.
Representatives from BSS, Bass and South Staffordshire Water Authority therefore met to come up with a suitable solution. After careful consideration Honeywell RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) backflow prevention valves were chosen to overcome any future complications, and BSS supplied all the appropriate fittings and accessories. The valves are installed at various points across the brewery ranging from the roof to the boiler house. The RPZ Valve on the brewery’s rooftop will be used to prevent cross contamination when Bass injects chlorine into its water in order to stop bacterial growth.
