GSA to provide EPCM services to VFL

Grimley Smith Associates (GSA) is the first engineering consultancy to be awarded a framework agreement from Vivergo Fuels Limited (VFL) for on-going EPCM services. Stainless steel NPT bug screens, silencers

Bug screens and silencers are essential elements of pneumatic systems to prevent valve failure through ingestion or emission of entrained particles and reduce exhaust volume levels. Typically based on sintered or mesh elements, bug screens are a simple barrier whereas the design of silencers needs to be carefully considered in order to minimise backpressure while allowing a substantial reduction in noise.

Qatar water supply system to use AUMA actuators

AUMA has supplied 105 electrical actuators for the water supply system of Doha, the capital city of Qatar, as part of a major Ashghal Public Works Authority upgrade programme. The modular actuation technology provided by AUMA has been used to replace all existing manual valves with remotely operated electrical valves managed via a SCADA control system.

Thomson bearings introduced in JIS sizes

Thomson Super Smart Ball Bushing Linear bearings, already available in US inch and European metric models, are now available in Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) sizes. This advanced bearing technology provides up to six times the load capacity or 216 times the travel life of conventional linear bearings.

Atlas Copco to supply compressors to JSC Acron

Atlas Copco has won a contract to deliver compressors to Russian chemical and fertilizer specialist JSC Acron. Acron, one of the world’s largest fertilizer companies, chose Atlas Copco’s Gas and Process division to construct and deliver two high-pressure integrally geared centrifugal compressors for carbon dioxide (CO2) processing at the company’s plant in Veliky Novgorod, Russia.
