Gastech 2018 show preview

Gastech, the leading global exhibition and conference for the international gas, LNG and energy industries, will arrive in Barcelona this September, 17-20 for its 30th edition. For more than 45 years the world-renowned event has been regarded as the most significant meeting place for upstream, midstream and downstream gas and LNG professionals to convene, learn and do business.

The event has received the Presidency of Honour from His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain and an official endorsement from the Spanish Secretary of State for Energy. Hosted by the Spanish Gastech Consortium comprising of Cepsa, Enagas, Gas Natural Fenosa, Reganosa, Repsol and Tecnicas Reunidas, and in partnership with Sedigas, Spain’s natural gas association, Gastech is also supported by the world’s leading LNG, gas and energy industry organisations and companies. The support it has so far received stands testament to its value to the energy community.
Gastech features a multi-streamed Conference with over 250 presentations by 350 speakers; a Plenary Stage, Strategic and Technical Conferences, a VIP Global Leaders Summit and four Specialist Conferences: Asia LNG Market Development Forum, LNG Trading & Procurement Forum, Diversity in Energy and Young Gastech. The 2018 programme has been significantly expanded to encourage more debate, discussion and collaboration across the industry through a series of panels led by some of the industry’s key influencers and CEOs including Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, CEO, Qatar Petroleum, Maarten Wetselaar, integrated gas and new energies director and member of the executive committee, Royal Dutch Shell, and Alexander Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee, Gazprom.
Director of the Gastech Governing Body, Gavin Sutcliffe, commented on the expanded content saying: “Conversations with the wider energy community, as well as from our Gastech Governing Body meetings, have placed strong emphasis on the need for industry collaboration, new strategies and technological advancements.” “From these conversations and the abstracts selected for the Gastech 2018 conference, we are seeing strong developments across the upstream industry especially in leading innovation and efficiency as the energy industry moves to lower carbon strategies.”
Alongside the conference, the event also features an international exhibition. At 50,000sqm, the Gastech exhibition will be the largest exhibition for the gas, LNG and energy industry. Over 700 companies will showcase their products and services to over 30,000 international gas, LNG and energy professionals. With 6 dedicated industry zones and 16 exhibiting country pavilions, the exhibition is a key marketplace for the industry and where millions of dollars of contracts are negotiated and signed.
In facilitating the global transition to a lower carbon economy, Gastech will be co-located with the Global Power & Energy Exhibition (GPEX) – a conference and exhibition dedicated to the latest strategies, solutions and technologies needed to adapt to the global energy transition.
As the international energy focus moves towards lower carbon economy there is greater alignment between the gas and power industries. The co-location of both events will provide a meeting place for the gas and power communities who form the central core of the energy transition to enhance the integrated energy dialogue and promote collaborative opportunities.
