Linde AG, Wiesbaden, has been awarded by the Hungarian petrochemical company Tiszai Vegyi Kombinát Rt. (TVK) a contract worth approximately EUR 160 million for an
ethylene plant at Tiszaújváros in the NE of Hungary. The new plant is part of an extensive petrochemical development project by TVK, with a total capital expenditure of about EUR 430 million. The new Linde ethylene plant will increase capacity at Tiszaújváros
from 360,000 tons of ethylene to 610,000 tons per year. This, together with the increased polymers production, allows TVK to extend its leading position as supplier of petrochemical base materials in the Central-European region and to strengthen its position as an important
exporter. The feedstock for the ethylene production is gasoil. The plant can also process naphtha and is scheduled to go into operation in the 4th quarter of 2004.
Linde will provide its most advanced proprietary ethylene technology and cracking furnaces and will carry out engineering, procurement of equipment and materials as well as supervisory services for construction and commissioning. The civil work and plant construction are within TVK’s responsibility.
